A SwanTek® 'Oxyklene' Oxygen Standard Cleaning Solvent

INTRODUCTION
Swansolv Ionic is the premium, non-flammable 'OxyKlene' solvent giving that 'Extra Purity and Optical Wash' for use as a precision oxyklene oxygen standard solvent cleaner and flux remover. Swansolv Ionic is a special azeotropic formulation solvent blend incorporating a proprietary alcohol blend formulated for use as a high purity, non flammable, chlorine free solvent.

When cleaning to a high visual /UV light test standard is required this makes Swansolv Ionic an excellent solvent for acidic fingerprints and body grease removal. Swansolv Ionic also helps prevents formations of soil and dust particulates electrostatic surface charges on cleaned surfaces - thereby reducing incidents of soil recontamination after cleaning. SwanSolv Ionic is non-flammable (ASTM-D-56 Flash Point Test).


VERSATILITY
Swansolv Ionic is extremely versatile in use and gives excellent cleaning results for specialist cleaning operations. Applications include:
Precision optics, aerospace substrates, critical electronics, medical components, high vacuum components, flushing of oxygen systems, polar and non polar cleaning and in applications where exclusion of non volatile residue is a concern.

MATERIALS COMPATIBILITY
SwanSolv Ionic does not corrode carbon steel, copper, stainless steel, aluminium, magnesium or titanium and is compatible with a wide range of elastomers, plastics and phenolic linings.

SAFETY IN USE
SwanSolv Ionic has been specifically developed as a replacement for trichloroethane and other chlorinated solvents for many applications. Whilst this brand has all the advantages of trichloroethane as an excellent cleaning solvent but is not classed as R40 or R45 (Possible irreversible effects or Class 2 Carcinogen) under current UK CHIP 3 health and safety regulations. Swansolv Ionic is currently classed (2005) as R20 by the UK HSE and has been tested to be non carcinogenic and non mutagenic by NTP, IARC, OSHA:and ACGIH.

ENVIRONMENTALLY
Not classed as a HAP (Hazardous Air Product). Swansolv Ionic has an atmospheric lifetime of just 10 days and a negligible global warming potential below 0.0002 and a negligible ozone depletion potential of 0.046.

1. Approved for oxygen standard cleaning use in BOC Group and for BOC cleaning specifications

Instructions for Use
Non flammable solvent. Can be used in brush, tank, vapour, tank, ultrasonic and for hand cleaning applications. Always use neat.
Use only in properly designated areas with adequate local exhaust ventilation parameters to dispose of transient vapours
Do not use in confined areas or areas where ventilation is perceived to be a problem
Avoid skin and eye contact
Wear full protective clothing for prolonged exposure, and for high concentrations
Use approved respirator if air contamination is above acceptable levels.
Containers, even those that have been emptied, can contain vapours.
Do not breathe vapours
When using product do not eat, drink or smoke

This material has a specific gravity of 1.27 making it heavier than air.
Store in a properly bunded area - either mobile or fixed to ensure containment of vapours in event of accidental leakage/damage to containers
Leaking product vapour is heavier than air and will displace air when trapped in cellars, tanks etc.
Leaking vapours can also form explosive mixtures in air (for concentrations See Section 9)
Store in original containers which should be kept tightly closed when not in use.
Store in a cool, well ventilated place away from heat source(s)
Do not store drums in open sunshine
Spillages should be prevented from entering drains or watercourses
