Baysilone KT 5
Silicone heat transfer fluid: -70°C to 150°C
Description • Instructions • Sizes, Prices & Offers Baysilone KT is a range of low viscosity silicone fluids which, as a result of their special property profile, are particularly suitable for use as cold and heat transfer media in cryostats, thermostats, climatic simulation chambers, freeze drying and heat transfer installations. Applications Baysilone KT 3 and KT 5 can be used in pressureless heat transfer systems between -70°C and 150°C. Key features Baysilone KT is a linear polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) characterised by the following properties: • Virtually insoluble in water. • Non-corrosive. • Low setting points and vapour pressures. • High flash points. • Low toxicity. • Odourless. • No coking tendency under thermal stress. • High thermal stability. • Resistance to ageing. • No chlorine. Baysilone KT fluids do not attack metals and are, in turn, not attacked by metals. Sealing materials commonly used in heat transfer installations are virtually unaffected by Baysilone KT fluids. Tests involving various sealing materials in 7 day contact with Baysilone KT fluids at 50°C have revealed that no effects worthy of note can be observed in the case of chloroprene rubber, butadiene-acrylonitrile, ethylene-vinylacetate rubber and fluorinated rubber. One exception which should be mentioned is that silisone rubber alone is subject to severe swelling. For further technical information see Bayer KT Technical Brochure. For professional use only.
